Both the students and staff of the College and the Department of Physics gathered joyfully for the celebration.

The function was inaugurated with welcoming and giving roses to Dr. V. V. Ganbavle (Head department of physics), Dr. A. R. Nimbalkar, and Mr. V. S. Pawar by third-year students of the physics department. Dr. V. V. Ganbavlein his speech said that DKASC College, Ichalkaranji is known for imparting valuable education to the students. He also added that the significance of the function is to show respect to our Gurus who dispel darkness and ignorance around us. Teachers give light to students. They sacrifice their life for the upliftment of the students by imparting not only knowledge but also wisdom. Knowledge can be obtained through various media like books, novels, newspapers, and the Internet. However, students can acquire wisdom only through teachers. As wig in the lamp, the teachers sacrifice themselves to brighten the students' lives. Thus the head of the department appreciated all the teachers for their hard work, dedication, and commitment.

The students of the Department of Physics have organized an event of “Rakshabandhan”, dated 25th August 2018. “Rakshabandhan” is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. It serves as a symbol of their love, togetherness, and confidence in each other. The festival of “Rakshabandhan” not only celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters, it also has a social significance. On this day, sisters of all ages tie a talisman, called the rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care. It underlines the notion that everybody should live in harmony and hence speaks about the rich culture and traditions of India that make our nation extraordinary.

The function was celebrated with full enthusiasm, zeal, and gaiety by all B. Sc. III Students. For this function Prof. Dr. V. V. Ganbavle, Head, Department of Physics, prof. Mrs. V. S.  Dhobale and Mr. V.S. Pawar were present for the function. During this function, all the girls of T.Y. B.Sc. tied rakhi on the wrists of T.Y. B.Sc. boys.

Documentary on “Life of James Clerk Maxwell” and “The History of Electromagnetism”

Students' beliefs that success in science depends on exceptional talent negatively impact their motivation to learn. For example, such beliefs are a major factor in steering students away from taking science and math courses in high school and college. In the present study, we tested a novel story-based instruction that models how scientists achieve through failures and struggles. We designed this instruction to challenge this belief, thereby improving science learning in classroom settings.

For this reason, the Department of Physics organizes the one-day lecture on the “Life of James Clerk Maxwell” and “The History of Electromagnetism” on 12th January 2019. Students were very interested and excited to see the documentary on Sir. Maxwell. Moreover, far more students in either of the struggle story conditions felt connected to the stories and scientists than did students in the control condition. Using struggle stories provides a promising and implementable instructional approach that can improve student motivation and academic performance in science and perhaps other subjects.

Sanjay Ghodavat University Visit

The purpose of any educational visit is to increase awareness of higher education and foster familiarity with a university campus. Be intentional about what students will specifically achieve with their visit. Consider what is developmentally appropriate for each grade level. It gives students a real sense of what it might be like to attend that University. Another important thing about campus tours is that a student can attend events held at the SGU. The Third-year students of the Department of Physics visited Sanjay Ghodawat University (SGU) on 4th February 2019.
