The Department of Physics conducted a guest lecture on “Career Opportunities in Research” on the 28th of May 2022. The resource person – Dr. P.P.Chikode, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Jaysingpur College, Jaysingpur, spoke on the topic - Career Opportunities in Research, introducing the students of the second year and third year to the Recent development in science and futuristic research in the field of science, especially in the Physics. Dr. Chikode made the session very interesting by involving the science behind every perspective of human life. Later, he talked the students through a series of career opportunities in the field of science that helped them to identify the correct opportunities after the B. Sc. degree. He introduced students to some national-level competitive exams in science like; IIT-JAM, GATE, SET, CSIR-NET-JRF, TIFR, BARC, etc, which help a student to understand the reality after the B.SC degree. Also, encourages students to go for higher education like M.Sc. and Ph. D. The session was very interactive and ended with many students requesting more such sessions.

Department of Physics and IQAC organized a guest lecture for B.Sc. students through an online platform on December 17, 2021. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ranjan Phukan (Scientist) and Smt. Arti Bandgar (Scientist), Meteorological Department (IMD), India. The topic of his lecture was " Climate Change: Issues and Challenges". The lecture started with the welcome speech of the Principal. Dr. V. S. Dhekale, following the formal introduction of the speaker by Dr. Aatish Patil.
In his webinar, Dr. Rajan Phukan discussed the consequences of climatic changes on the environment. He also disclosed various experimental parameters for the assessment of climatic changes. According to him, there are mainly three types of consequences of climatic changes, a change in CO2 concentration, an increase in the average temperature of the earth, and the occurrence of droughts as well as floods. The impact of all these conditions can be checked by designing the field experiments with types of equipment like phytotrons, open-top chambers, and playhouses. At last, he emphasized the importance of field-based simulation experiments in the conservation of biodiversity. He also suggested some of the methods prevent drastic changes in climatic conditions which ultimately lead to the loss of biodiversity. According to him, although modification of climatic conditions is triggered by natural factors but the intervention of humans accelerated this process. So he has promoted sustainable development which means development but not at the cost of destruction of the natural environment.
The next session is carried out by the Smt. Arti Bandgar. She also interacted with students on the challenges due to Climate Change and cleared their doubts and queries. The webinar ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vinayak Ganbavle.

Dr. V. M. Khot, Dr. A. K. Jadhav, Dr. S. B. Kashte, Dr. P. R. Patil, Assistant Professors from Dr. D. Y. Patil College, Kolhapur delivered an inspirational lecture on “Career Opportunities in Medical Physics” in offline mode B.Sc. students on 13th May, 2022. Dr. Khot explained the impact of medical science on different fields of science, engineering, and society. He demonstrated the application of medical science in research and academic domains with suitable examples. Dr. Kashte elucidated different possible career paths and opportunities for medical science postgraduates. He pointed out that the biggest barrier to the placement of a student is the mismatch between the desired skill set and the skills imparted through their academic curriculum.
Further, Dr. P. R. Patil suggested careful planning of the academic curriculum with emphasis on research requirements would boost the placement record of the institution. Further, he emphasized to raise the basic awareness of medical science and turn their academic interest toward medical physics. The lecture provided various insights on career opportunities for the medical physics postgraduates, Ph. D. and emphasized the significance of strong communication skills apart from the academic merit of the student in their career path. At last, Dr. V. V. Ganbavle, Head of the Department of Physics, thanked all the guests for their valuable time and motivational words.

On 30th April 2022, the Department of Physics, Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science, and Commerce College, Ichalkaranji organized a science exhibition in its departmental laboratory. A number of students from various classes participated in the exhibition. The science exhibition was held in the occasion of “National Science Day”. The chief guest for this exhibition was Dr. V. S. Dhekale, one of the renowned teachers. The exhibition started at 11:00 a.m. and was open to all the students of the college and Shikshan Maharshi Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe High School, Ichalkaranji.
The Principal of the college gave a commencement speech. As the exhibition started, various students presented their projects. Models of solar power energy, space satellites, hydroelectric generators, AC and DC motors, automatic transformers, and pendulums were built by the students. Major. Virkar sir along with the Principal, went around looking at the different models designed by the students and assessed the descriptions given by the students. The parents, too, looked at the various models put up by the students. Apart from models, the students also organized visual presentations to help everyone understand the concepts of their working models. Dr. Dhekale gave a speech on the importance of the contributions of the young generations to the field of science and technology. Everyone who participated in the exhibition was given best wishes for their excellent efforts. The exhibition ended with the Principal delivering a speech extending her gratitude to Dr. V. V. Ganbavle and congratulating all the students who participated in the exhibition.

A day Educational trip was organized by the Department of Physics, Dattajirao Kadam Arts, Science, and Commerce College, Ichalkaranji on May 14, 2022, to visit a Sindudurg Fort, Devbag and Malvan, Maharashtra. The tour was traveled via “Ichalkaranji- Kolhapur-Gaganbavda-Sindudurg-Tarkarli-Devbag-Ichalkaranji”. The tour comprised 14 students of B.Sc. III (Physics) accompanied by faculty member Mr. Vinayak Shivaji Pawar from the Department of Physics. All the students were directed to gather at the College gate at 5:00 AM. The Head of the Physics department, Dr. V.V. Ganbavle wished all the students the best and safe journey.
We started our journey at 5:00 AM with a mini-travel Bus Service and reached at 07:00 AM at Gaganbavda. In Gaganbavda, Tea and snacks were served to all students. Around 09:00 AM we reached the Sindudurg fort by local electric boat. After spending three hours at the Sindudurg fort we traveled to the Tarkarli beach around noon. After that, all students along with faculty members were taken to the beach site and enjoyed the sea surfing. During this time, due to the full moon, the high tides of the Devbag beach were observed. The student explains this gravitational effect on the sea tides as; the moon's gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force. The tidal force causes Earth and its water to bulge out on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon. These bulges of water are high tides.
Around 4:00 PM, we moved towards the Devbag beach and enjoyed the boating. After spending an hour there, we moved to the “Rock Garden” in the evening. At 09:00 PM, we Took dinner in the local hotel and came back by the same root as we went early in the morning. Around 12:30 AM we reached our college.
