On 10th October 2022, the Department of Physics organized a visit for B. Sc. III Physics students to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The aim of the visit was to expose students to university facilities and resources that support academic and research activities. The visit included tours of the university library, the University Center for Interdisciplinary Studies (UCIS), and the Central Instrumentation Facility Center (CIFC), providing students with insights into the resources available for their academic growth.

Students began their visit at the university library, where they explored its extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources. The librarian provided an overview of how to effectively utilize library services for research and study. Next, students visited the UCIS Center, which fosters interdisciplinary research and collaboration. They learned about various research projects and programs that encourage cross-departmental partnerships, enhancing their understanding of interdisciplinary approaches in physics. The final stop was the CIFC Center, where students were introduced to advanced scientific instruments and technologies used in research. Staff members demonstrated how these instruments function and explained their applications in various scientific studies.

The university visit was a valuable experience for BSc 3 Physics students, broadening their perspective on available academic resources and research opportunities. The exposure to Shivaji University’s facilities inspired students to consider further academic pursuits and collaborative research.

On 21st February 2023, the B. Sc. III students embarked on an educational study tour to Goa with Dr. V. V. Ganbavle and Mr. S. D. Pathan, focusing on cultural, ecological, and environmental aspects. The tour included visits to Mangeshi Temple, Kolaba Beach, and Bondla Forest. The day began with a visit to the Mangeshi Temple, one of the most revered Hindu temples in Goa. Students explored the temple's architecture, learning about its history and significance in local culture. The visit highlighted the fusion of art and spirituality, with students discussing traditional practices and rituals observed at the temple.

Next, the group traveled to Kolaba Beach, where they engaged in discussions on coastal ecology and conservation efforts. Students enjoyed the scenic beauty and participated in beach clean-up activities, emphasizing the importance of preserving marine environments. This hands-on experience reinforced lessons on environmental science and sustainability.

The final stop was Bondla Forest, a biodiverse area rich in flora and fauna. Students participated in a guided nature walk, observing various species and discussing their ecological roles. The experience provided insight into wildlife conservation and the importance of preserving natural habitats. The study tour was a valuable educational experience, enhancing students' understanding of cultural heritage and environmental science. The combination of historical, ecological, and practical learning made for a well-rounded and impactful trip. Students expressed enthusiasm about applying their newfound knowledge in future studies and community efforts.

On 13th March 2023, the Department of Physics organized an online game-based quiz competition for B. Sc. students. The event aimed to enhance students' knowledge in physics while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and engagement. The quiz was conducted through a user-friendly online platform, allowing students to participate from their homes. It featured a range of questions covering various topics in physics, promoting both learning and fun.

The quiz was designed as a game, incorporating elements such as timed questions and points for correct answers, which made the experience engaging and competitive. Questions ranged from fundamental concepts to advanced topics, ensuring a comprehensive challenge for participants of varying knowledge levels. A real-time leaderboard kept track of participants' scores, creating excitement and encouraging students to perform their best. Winners were awarded certificates and small prizes, recognizing their efforts and achievements in the competition. The online game-based quiz competition was a successful initiative that not only tested students' knowledge in physics but also encouraged collaboration and camaraderie among peers. The interactive format proved effective in making learning enjoyable.

On 25th March 2023, the Department of Physics organized a workshop aimed at informing B. Sc. III Physics students about various research opportunities in the field of physics. The workshop featured Dr. V. S. Kumbhar, an esteemed physicist from D. Y. Patil University, as the chief guest. The event focused on guiding students through potential pathways in physics research and competitive examinations relevant to their future careers.

Dr. Kumbhar provided a comprehensive overview of various competitive exams for physics graduates, including the JEST, GATE, and NET. He discussed the importance of these exams for pursuing higher education and research positions. He highlighted the diverse fields within physics, such as astrophysics, condensed matter physics, and theoretical physics, detailing how students can engage in research that aligns with their interests. Dr. Kumbhar shared strategies for preparing for competitive exams and emphasized the significance of internships and research projects in enhancing students’ profiles. The session included a robust Q&A segment, where students asked about specific exams and opportunities. Dr. Kumbhar’s responses provided clarity and motivation for students contemplating their future paths.

“Repair and Maintenance of Domestic Home Appliances”

 

On 31st March 2023, the Department of Physics organized a workshop focusing on the repair and maintenance of domestic home appliances. The event aimed to equip B. Sc. III Physics students with practical skills relevant to everyday technology. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Kalekar, a seasoned technician with extensive experience in appliance repair. His expertise provided valuable insights into the functionality and maintenance of various household devices.

The workshop covered the principles of electrical circuits and the functioning of common appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and microwaves. Students learned about the internal components and common issues faced by these appliances. Hands-On Demonstration: Mr. Kalekar conducted live demonstrations on diagnosing and fixing minor faults. Students actively participated, gaining hands-on experience with tools and techniques used in appliance repair. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students asked questions about specific appliances and repair techniques. Mr. Kalekar provided practical tips and encouraged students to pursue further learning in this field. The workshop was a success, providing students with essential skills in appliance maintenance that complement their academic knowledge in physics. The practical insights shared by Mr. Kalekar inspired students to consider the applications of their studies in real-world scenarios.

On 17th March 2023, the Department of Physics hosted a workshop aimed at exploring research opportunities in the field of medical physics. The event provided valuable insights for B. Sc. III Physics students interested in pursuing careers in this growing discipline. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. V. S. Kumbhar and Miss Pooja Patil, both experts in medical physics. They shared their experiences and knowledge, offering students a glimpse into the diverse research avenues available in this field.

Dr. Kumbhar presented an overview of medical physics, discussing its significance in healthcare and the role of physicists in clinical settings. He emphasized the integration of physics principles in medical imaging, radiation therapy, and safety protocols. Miss Pooja Patil elaborated on current research projects at D. Y. Patil University, highlighting areas such as imaging technology, radiation treatment planning, and medical equipment development. She encouraged students to consider internships and research positions to gain practical experience. The workshop included an engaging Q&A session, allowing students to ask about specific research topics and career pathways. The speakers provided guidance on academic qualifications and skills needed for a successful career in medical physics. The workshop was highly beneficial, equipping students with knowledge about the exciting research opportunities in medical physics. On 10th June 2023, B. Sc. III students of the Department of Physics organized a farewell event to the as they prepared to graduate and embark on their future endeavors. The event was a celebration of their academic journey and achievements. The farewell ceremony was attended by faculty members (Dr. V. V. Ganbavle, Miss. V. S. Dhobale, Dr. V. S. Pawar, Mr. S. D. Pathan, Miss. D. B. Sawant), non-teaching staff (Mr. Bhoi sir), and students. The atmosphere was filled with nostalgia as students reflected on their memorable experiences over the past three years.

The event began with welcoming remarks by the Dr. V. V. Ganbavle the Head of the Department, who praised the students for their hard work and dedication throughout their studies. Selected students like Priyanka Patil, Kalpana Shende and Sundaram Pandey shared their thoughts, expressing gratitude to faculty and peers. They recounted memorable moments, challenges faced, and the friendships forged during their time at the university. Faculty members presented awards to outstanding students for academic excellence and contributions to the department, highlighting their accomplishments and encouraging them to continue pursuing their passions.  

The event concluded with a group photo session and a heartfelt farewell from faculty, wishing the students success in their future endeavors.

On 16th March 2023, the Department of Physics hosted "Vidyanvedh- Science Exhibition," a science exhibition showcasing innovative projects and experiments by B. Sc. I, II and III students. The event aimed to encourage scientific inquiry and creativity among students. The exhibition featured a variety of projects that demonstrated the practical applications of physics concepts. Students presented their work to faculty, peers, and guests, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

The event was inaugurated by the esteemed chief guest, Dr. A. N. Patil, who emphasized the importance of hands-on experimentation in education and encouraged students to pursue their scientific interests. Students showcased a range of projects, including demonstrations of optics, mechanics, and electromagnetism. Each project highlighted innovative approaches to solving scientific problems. Projects were examined by Dr. S. T. Sutar and Mr. Akshay Swami, who provided constructive feedback and insights. Their expertise enriched the learning experience for students, offering guidance for future research and experimentation. "Vidyanvedh- Science Exhibition " was a successful exhibition that not only showcased the talents of B. Sc. I, II and III Physics students but also reinforced the significance of experimental learning in the field of science. The positive feedback from the chief guest and examiners motivated students to continue exploring their scientific passions.
