Study tour: Visit to "Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur"

The students of B. Sc. III, Department of Physics at D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji, recently visited Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur on 29^th December 2023. Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College is known for its distinguished departments in Medical Physics and Stem Cell Research. The visit aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange between the institutions, particularly in the fields of medical physics and stem cell research. Discussions centered around advancements in medical imaging technologies, radiation therapy, and the application of stem cells in regenerative medicine. The delegation was impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities and the ongoing research initiatives at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, which hold promise for future interdisciplinary collaborations between the two institutions.

In an introductory session for BSc II and III students, the teacher at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College (Mrs. Pooja R. Patil and Dr. Vishwajeet M. Khot), provided an insightful overview of Medical Physics and Stem Cell research. The session aimed to familiarize students with the fundamental principles and applications of these interdisciplinary fields within healthcare and scientific research. Medical Physics was highlighted as the branch of physics that applies principles and methods of physics to healthcare, including imaging techniques like MRI and CT scans, as well as radiation therapy. Stem Cell research, on the other hand, focuses on the study of stem cells and their potential applications in regenerative medicine and disease treatment. The teacher emphasized the importance of these fields in advancing medical technologies and improving patient care, encouraging students to explore career opportunities and research possibilities in these exciting and rapidly evolving areas of study.

Quiz Competition

The Department of Physics at D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji, organized a quiz competition on 9^th February 2024, for B. Sc. Students. This competition showcases the intellectual process and fosters academic engagement among students. Department of Physics at D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji hosted a lively and engaging quiz competition, inaugurated by the esteemed Hon. Principal, Dr. S. M. Maner. The event commenced at 11:54 am in the Auditorium of the College, with a palpable sense of enthusiasm among the participants and spectators alike. Hon. Principal Dr. Maner, known for his dedication to academic excellence and fostering a spirit of healthy competition, delivered an inspiring inaugural address. In his speech, Dr. Maner emphasized the importance of knowledge, critical thinking, and teamwork are central to the quiz competition.

The event aimed to test participants' knowledge across various domains of physics, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students enthusiastically participated, demonstrating their understanding of theoretical concepts and practical applications in physics. The competition featured rounds on topics such as mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, and modern physics, challenging participants to think analytically under time constraints. The event concluded successfully, with winners recognized for their exceptional performance and dedication to mastering the principles of physics. Industrial Visit: Samarth Industries, Hatkanagale

The B. Sc. III students of D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji undertook an educational industrial visit to “Samarth Industry” located in Hatkanagale. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to industrial processes relevant to their academic curriculum. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the owner Mr. Akash Pawar, and guided through the production areas. They observed firsthand the manufacturing processes, machinery operations, and quality control measures implemented at Samarth Industry. Interactions with industry professionals further enriched their understanding of industrial practices and career opportunities in the field. Overall, the visit to Samarth Industry proved to be insightful, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications in a real-world industrial setting.

Mr. Akash delivered an informative session on powder coating and spray coating techniques applied to metals. The session provided valuable insights into the processes involved in enhancing the durability and aesthetic appeal of metal surfaces. Mr. Akash explained the principles behind powder coating, emphasizing its advantages such as uniform application, environmental benefits, and corrosion resistance. Additionally, he elaborated on spray coating methods, detailing how they achieve precise coverage and adherence on various metal substrates. The session concluded with a Q&A session where participants gained clarity on application techniques, material selection, and industry trends. Mr. Akash's expertise and engaging presentation style ensured that attendees, including B. Sc. Recitation Ceremony of B. Sc. III students

On 5^th April 2024, the Physics Department of D. K. A. S. C. College, Ichalkaranji organized a distinguished recitation ceremony for the B.Sc. III students, with Dr. D. A. Kumbhar serving as the chief guest. The event, held at the laboratory of the physics department exemplified the intersection of scientific inquiry and literary expression. Dr. Kumbhar, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of cultivating both scientific acumen and creative thinking in aspiring physicists. Students showcased their literary prowess through captivating recitations of poems, scientific passages, and personal reflections, demonstrating their deep appreciation for the arts alongside their dedication to physics.
